The summer youth program at UICA – a season-long journey

The summer youth program at UICA was a season-long journey of growth and community for its participants. It began with a Hira Halaqa about Ayub (AS) where the youth could deepen their understanding of their faith and build a strong sense of community. This initial gathering set a reflective and spiritual tone that would resonate throughout the summer.

As the weeks went by, the program included diverse and enriching events. One highlight was volunteering at Feed My Starving Children, where participants packed meals for those in need, learning the importance of compassion and teamwork. The program continued with another memorable event, a Fajr hike, which included a Halaqa by Br. Mohammed focused on appreciating nature and recognizing the signs of the Allah SWT in the world. The summer program also  had a Books and Bagels event, where boys and girls discussed two chosen books over a delicious breakfast, fostering a love for reading and thoughtful discussion. The summer concluded with a Sunnah Barbecue to help the youth learn more about the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad PBUH by doing a series of Sunnah sports and indulging in Sunnah foods. These events combined to create a well-rounded experience, making the summer both memorable and enriching for everyone involved.

UICA’s Youth Committee is looking forward to hosting a variety of new events this upcoming year and hopes to see more of our youth connect with the masjid as they attend.
