On April 8th, the United Islamic Center of Arizona held a fundraising iftar event in which approximately 400 guests attended. This fundraising event was held to raise the final funds for the new expansion of the masjid, in addition to general masjid costs. The new expansion features additional men’s and women’s sections. This includes new separate entrances both for men and women, along with new wudu station areas and bathrooms. A symbolic crescent minaret has also been placed on the dome above the masjid.
During the blessed month of Ramadan, tables are set up for meals and the masjid is decorated to welcome the community for nightly iftars. What sets this night apart is the opportunity for so many within the community to contribute to such a beautiful cause while breaking their fast together. The Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever builds a mosque for Allah, Allah will build for him a house like it in Paradise.” May Allah reward all those who attended and all those who contributed to helping support the United Islamic Center of Arizona.
