Yesterday, May 15th, 2019, UICA hosted an Iftar dinner for Phoenix Police Department staff and Chief Jeri L. Williams. Sister Cheryl Parker welcomed Chief Williams and her staff and spoke about the history and the activities of UICA.
Imam Didmar Faja also thanked Chief Williams, her staff, UICA board members and volunteers for arranging the dinner and serving. He also highlighted the importance of establishing strong connections and maintaining these connections in the between PPD and UICA, and the Muslim community at large in Phoenix. He mentioned that we both need each other. He concluded by thanking PPD for their quick and very professional response in two provocative and threat cases UICA faced in the last year by ill intended individuals.
Chief Williams also thanked UICA and Imam Faja for the hospitality and reaffirmed the importance of maintaining strong relations.
Mustafa Masad, a Muslim detective and a great connecting bridge between PPD and the Muslim Community at large in Arizona expressed his gratitude to all those present.
