An American Peace Caravan in Morocco

Imam Didmar Faja of the United Islamic Center of Arizona attended The American Peace Caravan Conference in Rabat, Morocco, October 24 – 26, 2017.  This was the second American Peace Caravan Conference. The previous conference was held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, and featured ten imams, ten pastors, and ten rabbis.4

This year’s conference featured approximately twenty imams, pastors and rabbis.  Key participants included Shaykh Abdullah Bin Bayyah (Chair, Forum for Peace in the Islamic World) Shaykh Hamza Yusuf (Co-Founder, Zaytuna College) and Ahmad Tawfiq (Minister of Religious Affairs, Kingdom of Morocco).     The purpose of the American Peace Caravan Conference is to bring together faith leaders from the Abrahamic traditions so that they might get to know one another and build robust relationships.  The benefits of such work include eliminating suspicion born of ignorance, increasing understanding and respect for other faith traditions
